Chateau La Bridane 2019, Saint-Julien

Saint-Julien from a small family estate whose vines sit between Leoville-Poyferre and Leoville-Las Cases. The cheapest case of Saint-Julien I have. Deep purple red with violet hue and almost black core. Ripe nose with blackcurrants, dark cherries, mulberries, toasting aroma and mild spices. On the palate well structured with fine acidity, ripe tannins and a rather classic finish with good length. This small estate has been owned by the same family for more than three centuries! A large part of the vines is located at the top of the Saint-Julien slopes, facing the Gironde river and over-looking the famous classified growths of its appellation. Today the land of Château La Bridane, marked by the famed gravels of Saint-Julien, is a densely planted estate vineyard with a relatively high proportion of Merlot, Petit Verdot, and some Cabernet Franc for an appellation planted to 90% Cabernet Sauvignon across the board. These parcels of Château la Bridane are sandwiched between those of Châteaux Léoville-Poyferré and Léoville-Las Cases. Brunot Saintout farms based on the principles of lutte raisonée and alternates the ground covering with partially plowed rows between the well manicured vines. The modern cellar overlooks the Gironde from the heights of Saint-Julien. At harvest the fruit is sorted three times with progressively stricter standards to ensure only the best fruit makes it to the crusher. After maceration and pressing, the wine rests in two-thirds-new oak barrels for about a year and a half before bottling.

Tasting Notes A delicious, fruity and ripe wine. Full-bodied and supple on the palate, it also displays a large range of intense aromas. Everything is in harmony; well-balanced, pleasant, fresh and velvety.
