Pairing Individuals to Wine

Tim buys it. Sam sells it.

Mosse & Mosse is a family wine merchant working out of Fentons Farm in Dennington, Suffolk. There are two of us on the front of it and that is not a marketing decision, it is the size of the company.

Tim Mosse

Tim

Tim does the sourcing. He has the Old World palate and he buys for drinking windows rather than for scores. In his own words: “It's all about what's in the bottle; that's important to me. I adore bottle-aged wines and wine that can be laid down. I hunt the best so you can enjoy what's in your glass. I am a sucker for the Old World, especially Burgundy and Bordeaux.”

That is why this list is heavy on Chanson, Albert Bichot, Domaine Seve and Domaine de la Folie, and why there is a 1986 Margaux magnum on it next to a case of Picpoul at thirteen pounds a bottle.

Sam

Sam runs the retail side and speaks to the customers. “Business and a bottle of wine are what makes me tick! Retail is in my bones, and giving our customers that one to one special service is what we are all about.”

Why we would rather you rang

We could build a clever form that captures your preferences and spits out a recommendation. We would rather talk to you. Wine is emotive and sensory, and two minutes on the phone gets you to the right bottle faster than twenty minutes of filters. The shop is here so you can buy at eleven at night if that is when you buy things. The phone is here for everything else.

Corporate and Christmas

A good part of what we do is corporate gifting, staff boxes and Christmas orders going out to a lot of different addresses. One customer has been doing it with Tim for twenty five years. If that is what you are after, tell us the shape of it rather than trying to build it in a basket.
