Côte de Beaune

A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.

The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

The 2001 vintage is considered to be one of the best in Rioja in recent years.

Bodegas Muga is one of the most prestigious wineries in Rioja, and the Prado Enea Gran Reserva is their flagship wine.
The wine is a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, and Graciano, which is the classic grape blend for Rioja Gran Reserva wines.
The wine is aged for at least five years in oak barrels, which gives it a rich and complex flavor profile.
The wine has received rave reviews from wine critics, with many scoring it 95 points or higher.

It's not easy to find mature Rioja from a great winery and a great year. This is all that; it smells of tobacco, earth and dried fruits. The palate is lively and not dying, while the flavors of cherry, raisin and marzipan are spot on. Elegant and long on the finish. Wine Enthusiast 93 points
