Côte de Beaune
A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.
The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Terroir & vintage report - It is in the Bastion cellars that Chanson produces the estate's Premiers Crus. This unique cuvée brings together different plots selected from the estate's Premiers Crus located on the Beaune hillside. After a mild winter, spring took over with marked temperature variations and abundant rain. The result: a lot of millerandage (small berries). Following this, summer was marked by several heatwaves punctuated by a few thunderstorms that brought a little water.
WINEMAKING & MATURATION - The harvest began in mid-September under radiant sunshine. After whole-bunch fermentation, the wines are aged in barrels for a period of 14 to 18 months in our 15th-century Bastion with a moderate proportion of new barrels.
WINE DESCRIPTION - Pale gold. Floral fragrances with notes of white-fleshed fruits and toasted bread blended with spices. Complex and elegant. Beautiful aromatic expression and long-lasting aroma.
WINE & FOOD - Shellfish, fish, white meats and certain regional goat cheeses.
AGEING POTENTIAL - At its best after 3 to 5 years and 7 to 9 years for the good vintages.
