Côte de Beaune
A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.
The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

This estate has been passed down through 13 generations of the same family and it would be an understatement to say that they were passionate about it. It has a great position just south of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle. The 27 hectare estate is now under the custodianship of brother and sister Lucie Secret and Geoffrey Ribeiro. Just as the generations before them have done, Lucie and Geoffrey are dedicated to respecting the heritage of the estate and winemaking style whilst ensuring that the estate’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and modern winemaking allows the Château continue to produce meticulously crafted wines for generations to come.
A favourite of Robert Parker, who in his book ‘Bordeaux’ describes it as: “... somewhat reminiscent of such wines as Hortevie and Terrey-Gros-Caillou. Of course, du Moulin Rouge is significantly less expensive since it is entitled only to the Haut-Médoc appellation”. Elevated to Crus Bourgeois Supérieur in 2020.
