Côte de Beaune
A key wine-producing district of Burgundy in the east of France.
The Côte de Beaune area is the southern part of the Côte d'Or, the limestone ridge that is home to the great names of Burgundy wine. The Côte de Beaune starts between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Beaune, and extends southwards for about 25 km to the river Dheune. The trend of producing red wines continues from the Côte de Nuits to the north, down through Beaune, although the wines become lighter and more perfumed. Farther south lie the great names of white Burgundy such as Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Critic tasting note: "Whiffs of fresh-churned butter and honey introduce this powerfully ripe, sun-drenched Chardonnay. The fleshy, voluminous wine shows the heat of the 2019 vintage through concentrated flavours of Meyer lemon and Mirabelle plum. Matured in oak casks for 14 to 18 months (with some new oak), the opulent, spicy sip should drink at peak from 2024 to 2035. Anna Lee C. Iijima" - 93/100 , Wine Enthusiast
Gold colour. Aromas of lemon and pale fleshed fruit mixed with spices Complex and well-balanced. Tight texture. Spicy tinges on the long finish. SCORE : 91-94 JASPER MORRIS
Location: In the heart of the Clos des Mouches appellation Chanson is one of the main owners with a plot of 4.3 hectares. A sunny terroir that enjoys an ideal location on the south-east facing slopes of Mont Saint-Désiré, bordering the Premiers Crus of Pommard.
The 2019 Vintage: After a mild winter, spring took over with marked temperature variations and abundant rain. The result: lots of millerandage (small berries). In the process, the summer was marked by several heat waves punctuated by a few storms which brought a little water. The harvest began in mid-September under a radiant sun. After gentle pressing, the wines are vinified and then aged in oak barrels for a period of 12 to 14 months in our 15th century Bastion with a moderate proportion of new barrels. The whites are very balanced, elegant with notes of white-fleshed fruits.
Tasting: Pale gold color. Aromas of lemons and white-fleshed fruits with hints of spices. Complex, well balanced. Dense and tight texture. Subtle notes of spices on the end of the mouth which displays a good length. SCORE: 91-94 JASPER MORRIS
Food and wine pairings: Foie gras, seafood, scallops just snacked, as well as certain Comté or Citeaux type cheeses
